December 2016

Life with Bradley has been pretty fun lately. We didn't think it was possible, but he asks even more questions now! And the questions can be quite thoughtful at times. He can guess what letter most words start with based on their sounds and can even write his name now all by himself. And his drawings are starting to look more like actual things instead of squiggles. Some of his favorite activities are throwing balls (football, baseball), playing with his train table and riding his bike. He loves eating all types of fruit, including pineapple, grapes, kiwis and oranges right now. Plus, it seems he's a big fan of christmas cookies! His favorite show is definitely the movie The Polar Express, followed by Little Einsteins and Dinosaur Train. At school, he and his friends went from playing Star Wars games to all super hero games--it sounds like he's usually Captain America.

We started Thanksgiving off with a Turkey Trot 5K in Encinitas. The course was right along the coast so very beautiful but unfortunately, we didn't get any ocean pictures. There were thousands of people so Bradley road in the stroller for most of this race; he ran the final third of a mile or so. The start line:

And the finish line

We joined some friends for thanksgiving dinner. Bradley and Mason "helping out" Jill in the kitchen.
 Ready for their turkey
Instead of shopping on Black Friday, we went 'nature tracking' which is what they call hiking on one of his favorite shows Dinosaur Train. Walking through Los Penasquitos Canyon before we got lost and walked an extra mile
Crossing a bridge that shockingly had a little water under it
A rare chance to play in some leaves!

Dunkin has the right idea
 One of his favorite spots
And we put up the Christmas tree!
Blurry photo from my work Holiday party. Adam and friend Mike playing arcade baseketball
Non-blurry photo of Adam playing craps at the party
I'm not sure what was happening here...he was pretending with my fancy purse from dressing up for the holiday party.

The winter concert at his school. He's not the oldest but he's definitely the tallest
Random day at the zoo with his buddy Arjun

 Loves the Christmas tree

Going to see Santa!

 There he is!

We headed to a local neighborhood called Candy Cane Lane for an evening. Many of the houses on the street decorate and provide hot cocoa and snacks to the visitors. We even saw wagons pulled by clydesdales.
One house had a huge train set up in the front yard. This was very cool and we'll definitely return next year.
Brrrrr! Very cold one morning--there was frost on the car!
We signed Bradley up for a 1K race with his buddy Arjun

Maybe slightly inappropriate but pretty funny. He loves listening to the national anthem when they play it before football games and waves his US flag no matter where he is (even on the potty)
Aunt Missi and Uncle Earl came to visit for Christmas! So lots of touristy things planned, starting with a trip to Torrey Pines and La Jolla. The weather was unfortunately, not great.

Next up, the Zoo. Love the hippos
 And the big cats

Reindeer! Getting ready to help Santa
Riding on the gondola--Bradley's favorite part of the zoo
 And riding on a turtle

It's almost Christmas!

November 2016

On the Sunday before Halloween, we participated in a local road race: 5K for me and 1K for Adam and Bradley. We weren't sure how far Bradley could run, but he did great for the 1K (about 0.6 miles). He probably could have run an entire mile without walking!

His school friend Arjun joined us for the race
 Super Bradley!

The race was called Jack-O-Smash and they had a trebuchet flinging pumpkins
 Working on his plank
I came in 3rd place for my age group (women 30-39)
Halloween night! Bradley was home sick from school that day but rallied for trick-or-treating. This year was definitely the most fun yet. As we were finishing up, we came across some of his friends from his baseball team who are actually our neighbors. He had even more fun once we joined with his friends.

In early November, Adam and I spent the afternoon at a beer festival downtown.

The beer fest was on the pier right next to the USS Midway
The view from one of the parks I run through
Playing on the playground after a baseball game

It had been awhile since we played mini golf. This kid actually had 2 hole-in-ones!

He's also tall enough to ride on the go karts now

Monkeying around after one of his baseball games
 Helping daddy make meatballs
On Friday, his school had Thanksgiving Lunch for the parents to join in

At gymnastics, he used the big balance beam for the first time yesterday. A little scared at first but then enjoyed it.
