Too many sick days

April seemed like a busy month for us, I think mostly because Bradley was sick for so much of it. And life gets hectic when Bradley is sick because we have no back-up childcare options. So we alternate between one of us taking off of work.

One of several sick days at home. It started as a fever lasting about 4 days, then turned into a pretty bad asthma episode for a few days.
And one of several trips to the doctor.
 Bradley's toys are Dunkin's toys

 Batting lefty

We got Bradley some caterpillars and watched over a few weeks as they created their cocoons and then turned into butterflies! Here, we put the cocoons in the butterfly house, waiting for the fun part.
 Crazy hat day at school
Then on Friday, it was Parade and Popsicle day at school

One of his preschool teachers, Ms Billie

We have butterflies!
Jumping in the foam pit at gymnastics

A beautiful day for the beach

We went to a 3rd birthday party at a karate studio (for the son of one of Adam's coworkers)
Practicing kicking and punching a "board"

And playing with his friend Mason
 Another beautiful beach day

His second trip to the dentist was a great success! His teeth looked great and she was thrilled we had finally taken away the pacifier.
Super chill, watching Mickey on the TV in the ceiling while the hygienist cleaned his teeth
Learning about wild animals at school so he had his face painted like a zebra. He did not want me to take a picture of it at school.

 Playing in the backyard
He found a lizard! Not nearly as many as in Florida but we still have a few outside here.
Bradley's first swimming lesson! We signed him up for lessons through the La Fitness right by our house so its super convenient. For now, he's getting a one-on-lesson with his teacher, Coach Alex. He jumped right in the water, not scared at all and is doing really well with putting his head underwater.

 Yummy lunch after swimming
Sick again. More breathing treatments.
Another road race. This one supporting military families dealing with Autism. We both had a great race! Adam came in 2nd place in the 5K stroller division and I had a monster PR (personal record) in the 10K (6.2 miles). It was actually pretty chilly and rainy for the race which is definitely something we don't usually have to deal with but is nice running weather.
He loves that many races have bounce houses

 And face painting

 Making breakfast with Momma
Another fun swimming lesson. He's already able to float for 10 seconds on his back
When we can't think of anything else to do for a Sunday afternoon, we go to the San Diego Zoo.
And we watched a 4-D movie for the first time at the zoo. Bradley did not like this at all!
Tired from swimming and the zoo, he fell asleep in the car. One of the only ways to get him to nap on the weekends now.

Happy 3rd Birthday Bradley!

We celebrated a Birthday here last week! Bradley has been excited to turn 3 for seemingly forever :)

Lots of pictures for this post:

Building train tracks in his new preschool room
Some extra excitement...came home from work one day to find several bees flying around the kitchen. They were trying to building a nest in our chimney! Was not prepared to kill a bunch of bees while not freaking out in front of Bradley. And then having to answer all his questions: "Why aren't they moving momma? When will they start flying again? Can we help them? ...

Spring Fling party at Daycare the Friday before Easter. Enjoyed seeing the Easter bunny, even though he kept telling me it was just Ms Kristin (the head teacher at his school). "Momma, it's just pretend. That's not the real Easter bunny"  Too smart!
And a petting zoo at the party!
Plus face painting, of course. He wanted to be a cheetah but tiger was the best Ms Heather could do.

The next day, we met up with some friends for an Easter egg hunt. Mason and Bradley were ready for some fun!
The chaos. The egg hunt lasted about 5 seconds...
But thankfully, everyone got some yummy treats

 Playing on the playground

After learning more about animals and where his food comes from at school, he's taken up renewed interest in his farm toys
Easter morning! His Easter basket full of goodies
And you can see our chimney taped up in the background to keep the bees out!
Playing outside in our beautiful weather
Watching a movie on daddy's TV
 Buddies
Bradley's first day of Preschool! He moved up to the 3 year old room a few days early (same school, just different room).
Very excited to be a big kid now. For the past year, he's talked non-stop about how he needed to be tall enough to go to preschool, haha

Practicing drawing some letters
Trying to convince me that he's not a monkey just because he eats bananas
Birthday Morning! Checking out a card from Grammy
 King for a day!

His birthday stash. So many fun things from family and friends

It's not a birthday until you eat some cake

Breakfast at the pancake store the next morning as his birthday weekend continued
He really wanted to go ice skating so that's what we did. He was "freezing" at first. This kid is not used to the cold!

He had a lot more fun than we expected. Thankfully, Adam is a great skater or this wouldn't have been fun. It is very hard to skate when you have to basically hold Bradley up the entire time.
 Riding the little zamboni
Helping daddy put together his new crane

On Sunday morning, we used a new baby sitter so that Adam and I could run the Carlsbad 5000 together. Our first 5K in Cali where one of us isn't pushing the stroller, yay! And we both ran really well. I was only 20 seconds off my best time ever...which was 10 years ago! So I'd say I'm officially back in pretty good shape, as good as before pregnancy.

 Post-race beers
Have to include Bradley's friend Dunkin. He's a lot bigger now
 Being silly in the yard
Wanted to start carrying a backpack to school since the big kids do. He's obsessed with Star Wars so R2D2 is perfect
Day 2 of another fever so we showed him the Wii for the first time. He is definitely too young to play almost anything but we had fun playing a few games for a few minutes. Playing baseball:
 And our favorite: MarioKart

We're now on Day 3 of the fever. Every fever he gets seems to last 4 days so we're anticipating a missed day of work/school tomorrow. Definitely hoping he outgrows these fevers soon.

Happy Sunday!
